Recently, a working meeting of experts of the EU project "Covenant of Mayors East (CoM East)" and representatives of the Energy Efficiency Fund of the Republic of Moldova was held.

According to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, one of the main responsibilities of municipalities is to ensure energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources at the local level, as well as the development of local programs aimed at improving energy efficiency.

By joining the "CoM East" and developing an action plan for energy efficiency, Moldovan municipalities can join forces in achieving all the necessary requirements, as well as gain access to funds aimed at solving local energy issues. Moreover, the local financial contribution to European projects is provided, among other things, by the Energy Efficiency Fund. These and other aspects of cooperation were recently discussed by experts of the EU Project "Covenant of Mayors East (CoM East)" and representatives of the Energy Efficiency Fund.

We remind that the main goal of the Energy Efficiency Fund is to attract financial resources and manage them to finance and implement projects in the field of energy efficiency and development of renewable energy sources in accordance with the strategies and programs developed by the Government.

"This cooperation is possible grace to the common goals of both structures - to increase energy efficiency and reduce gas emissions," added Simion Berzoi, the operations director of the Energy Efficiency Fund.

Also, the Mayor of Nisporeni, Grigory Robu, confirmed that the town hall of Nisporeni is ready to recover in the membership of the "Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy".

The team CoM-East has explained all the steps and documents necessary to resume the active status of the city that signed the Mayors Agreement.
